Sophie Burns Potrykus is an Electric & Acoustic Bassist From Dallas, Texas.
Beginning on Tuba & Trombone at age 10, then picking up Bass a year later, Potrykus quickly became apart of the Dallas Arts Scene.
In 2016, she moved from Dallas to Boston to pursue a bachelor's degree in Film Score and Bass Performance from Berklee College of Music, where she graduated from in Spring of 2020.
Now, Potrykus lives in Los Angeles, working on her solo project under the name "Lady Cowboy," as well as composing for film & TV. Recently, she worked as Assistant Music Editor to Nick South & Rolfe Kent on the films Vacation Friends (Dir. Clay Tarver) & He's All That (Dir. Mark Waters), both planning to premiere in late 2021.
As a member of the Dallas, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles music communities, Potrykus has played, performed, or recorded with Tia Fuller, Madeline, Jobi Riccio, Mike Medina, Lincoln Goines, Tigris Records, Bermuda Cal, Jesse Timm, and Brennan Wedl. Alongside playing Bass for many, she is an avid composer, working on films with Directors Aliza Brugger & Cara Griffith
Recently, she has been a featured musician on GirlGangNYC and Bass Player Universe, and has plans to release an EP in late 2021.
